27% Decline

Deaths from coronary heart disease during the decade from 1997 to 2007 declined by about 27%. When statistics are updated this decline will likely mean that the disease is no longer the single leading cause of death in America; that distinction will belong to cancer (which now accounts for about 1 in every 4 deaths per year in the USA).
